BMR vs TDEE: what’s the difference?

Publié par Le

This commonly named BMR calculator estimates resting energy expenditure using Mifflin–St Jeor. Resting energy and strictly measured basal metabolism are related but not identical.

The idea in practice

The equation uses a constant of +5 for males and −161 for females. Measurements are converted to kilograms and centimetres before the formula is applied.

AT A GLANCE10 × kg + 6.25 × cm − 5 × age + constant

Keep the result in perspective

The result is not a suggested food intake. Total daily expenditure also includes movement and other energy costs. Adults 20–100 only; not for pregnancy or breastfeeding.
